Kenya Missions - Dec 1985-May 1986

Introduction
In 1985 a group of female members of the local led a research mission to Kenya to locate a suitable base close to the Ethiopian border. In the end, the local decided to make headings into Ethiopia before any political change came about.
1986 Kenya Mission - Brief History

A group of six official women of the Birmingham local 111: security, treasurer, recording secretary, 2 administrators, information /publicity and two children age 3 and 4 years travelled to Kenya from Dec 1985 to May 1986. The aim was to research and gather facts on Kenya’s inhabitants, lifestyle, money, dress and different cultures etc. The women themselves and The Commonwealth Exchange funded this mission. The President and 1st Vice visited Kenya during the above mission to examine security issues.

Kenya Mission - 1986
3 Executives Sargeant at Arms, Chaplain and Executive member visited to examine commercial and business opportunities.
Ghana Youth Exchange - 1996
Introduction
9 youths and 4 adults visited Ghana with the aim of looking at the history trail of slavery. They also visited Elmina Castle and monuments ie:Kwame Nkrumah. The project was partly supported by the Commonwealth Youth Exchange.

Ghana Fundraising
Sponsored Bike Ride - 2002
A sponsored bike race was held in Handsworth Park to raise money to support the local in Ghana in order to secure land. This was organized by Ghana local youths based in Birmingham.
